If
the software starts normally and this message states that there is an error
collecting item tags, then first try running a repair and then live update if
repair does not fix the problem. If
repair and live update do not work then see below…
This
is most likely caused by a problem with the Design Manager Setup. Either the program was never set-up properly
or another application uninstall removed a shared component. The solution is to run the client or
workstation setup…
Note: For error 91
when starting up the software, this could also denote a corrupted database (but
will occur on all workstations), see: http://knowledge.designmanager.com/articles/10000043.htm
For Pro 5.0, run the
Design Manager Pro 5.0 Workstation setup:
Can also try to manually register the Server
to correct this error:
1.
Right
click on the Design Manager shortcut and select Properties. Write down the
Target Path to the software (example
t:\dmpro50)
2.
Click
on the Windows Start button and select Run.
Type the path to the software, then dmrs32 /regserver <click ok> (example
t:\dmpro50\dmrs32 /regserver)
Now type the same path but add fpautl32 /regserver <click ok> (example t:\dmpro50\fpautl32 /regserver)
For Pro 6.0,
re-install the Client:
If the client was already installed and the
installation is damaged it may have to be uninstalled before following the directions
below. Check the add/remove programs
under the control panel to check for the “Design Manager Pro 6.0 Client.” Make sure that only the Client is
uninstalled, NEVER uninstall the standalone setup (does not include the word
Client).
The setup wizard will eventually
ask you to set the location of the server files. This must be set to the
For SE 6.0 and Pro
7.0, repair the software installation:
If the software was already installed and the
installation is damaged it may need to be repaired. Check the add/remove programs under the
control panel to check for “Design Manager SE6” or “Pro 7.0.” Highlight Design
Manager, click on “click here for support information” and choose Repair. If Design Manager SE6/Pro 7.0 is not on the list
then the software was never installed, install the software following the
instructions in the manual. Should
repair fail to work, try uninstalling the software and then re-installing to
the same folder; run a live update after re-installing.
For Design
Manager 2000, re-run the setup:
The
Design Manager CD will run automatically.
Place it in your CD drive and wait a few seconds until the Welcome
screen appears. Click the next button on
the Welcome screen. Review the license
agreement. Then you will see a window
with a destination directory on it.
Click the browse button. You will
be prompted for the path to install Design Manager into. Type the path where the first copy of Design
Manager was installed on the shared (network) drive and press Enter. Follow the rest of the setup instructions.
When
this routine is complete you should see a Design Manager 2000 icon appear on
the computer.
If on
a network and there is a need to check the workstation setup:
·
Start Design Manager 2000 on the first
computer.
·
Choose Tools, then Glossaries,
then Locations.
·
Add a new location to the system by
clicking on the Add button and typing in a location code and name. Click OK.
You should see the new location listed in the Glossary.
·
Exit Design Manager 2000.
·
Start Design Manager 2000 on the second
computer.
·
Choose Tools, then Glossaries,
then Locations.
At
this point if you see the new location that you entered on the first computer
appear on this computer, then the setup was successful.
