If you are using Design Manager Cloud you will never need to run a LiveUpdate.  Updates are installed for you automatically upon release (unless you have custom programming/are a modified Cloud client).

Running a Live Update

Running a Live Update will install the latest patches, fixes, and enhancements to the Design Manager Software.  It is only necessary to run a Live Update from one computer if on a network; the update will propagate to all others.

  1. Have all users exit the software except for the person performing the Live Update.
  2. Select Live Update from the File menu.
  3. Prompt will appear asking if you want to continue. Click Yes.
  4. Prompt will appear asking if you want to create a backup. Click Yes.
  5. The backup wizard will then take you through the steps of creating this backup. The backup can be saved to any drive and directory on your computer and will be named DM<the version of software that you are using>BU.ZIP once completed. Please make sure this file exists before proceeding to Step #6.
  6. The Live Update wizard will appear once the backup is completed and you click OK. Follow through the Live Update wizard and at the point where it asks how to install the update, select “Use the Internet” and click Next.
  7. Windows Firewall may ask to allow access of Design Manager Live Update (DMLUPDT.EXE) to the Internet, you must answer yes or allow.
  8. The Live Update will now install automatically. Continue to keep all users out of the software until the Live Update has completed successfully.
  9. If you are having problems running the Live Update from the Internet because of a Firewall or Network setting, then please contact Design Manager Technical support via email (Support@designmanager.com) and request a copy of the Update be emailed to you.
