Error "3050 Could Not Lock File" When You Connect to a Jet Database, Error 3052 when performing a large database function on a Novell Server or Linux Server.

Change MaxLocksPerFile in the Windows Registry


WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

From the Windows Start menu, click Run, type Regedt32.exe, and then click OK to start Registry Editor.
Locate the MaxLocksPerFile value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Jet 4.0
NOTE: If the MaxLocksPerFile value does not exist, you must create it.
For a Novell Server, Decrease the MaxLocksPerFile value so that it is equal or below the Novell MaxLocks attribute.
For a Windows Server, increase the amount by approx. 50%.
Quit Registry Editor.
