Stuck citrix service after 2109 update

After updating to 2109 and restarting the computer, citrix may hang when clicking the icon  

Workspace version 21.9.4048

windows 10 pro21H1

installed on 10/12/2020

OS build 19043.1288

Windows Feature Experience pack

1202212.23920.0




Citrix uninstalls get stuck at this point.

run taskmgr stop Citrix services, go to Startup tab, Disable all Citrix services (could be 3)


Run MSconfig, uncheck Citrix Workspace Updater Service


Reboot the system

Manually delete everything in C:\Program Files(x86)\Citrix to verify no files are locked in use

Download the Citrix Cleanup Utility from

Run and restart the computer

Install a previous version of the workspace:

Set workspace updates to off
